Infants and Toddlers: Newborn- Pre-K (up to 5 years old)
“And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13: 13
At New Providence, we seek to provide opportunity and space for all the children of God to experience, develop, and practice these three: faith, hope, and love. For the littlest members of the body of Christ (Infants up to 5 year olds), we offer Childcare on Sunday mornings, though we do not mind at all if your little one raises a joyful (or less than joyful) noise during worship.
For our toddlers and preschoolers, we begin their journey of faith by introducing them to our most well-known Old and New Testament stories and to the most basic concepts of the Christian faith. We do this by reading Bible stories to them with accompanying simple crafts and activities.
Early Elementary (K- 3rd)
“but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” Matthew 19:14
As our children grow, so do their opportunities to engage and grow in their faith. For our early elementary aged children, we offer Sunday school classes using the workshop rotation which covers all major stories and faith concepts from the Old and New Testaments. A new theme or story is introduced each month and the material is presented in a variety of ways based on different learning styles, including art, music, prayer, and writing.
On Wednesday afternoons, we also offer an after school program called PEAK (Presbyterians Educating Awesome Kids). Read more about our PEAK program below.
Early Intermediate (4th- 5th Grade)
“For this child I prayed; and the Lord has granted me the petition that I made to the Lord.” 1 Samuel 1:27
As our children enter into early adolescence, we seek to encourage their curiosity as they explore and give voice to their own faith. On Sunday mornings, we continue their journey of faith by expanding on the stories and themes from the Old and New Testaments, while seeking to find the resonance of Scripture in their lives.
On Wednesday Afternoon, we offer a special group for our 4th and 5th graders, called Cloud 9. This is a part of our after school program, PEAK (Presbyterians Educating Awesome Kids). Keep reading below for more information about Cloud 9.
