SUNDAY FAITH & CULTURE CLASS

The Faith and Culture Class seeks God at the intersection of our faith and the issues of everyday living.

Its discussion format allows an honest and meaningful grappling with theology and modern society.

Through studies of challenging and spirit-uplifting books and other media, we expand our knowledge and understanding of God and ask the question: How does our life impact our faith and vice versa? We support and encourage one another in works of service. Our view of God expands with every conversation.  The class is currently studying the works of  Richard Rohr.

Call the church office for contact information, 865-983-0182.

SUNDAY PROVERBS STUDY (38 week study beginning April 11)

Proverbs is unique in that it contains practical human wisdom collected and passed down through dozens of generations, combined with and put in context by God’s wisdom.

Proverbs is a guide to insight, understanding, and spiritual discipline to help you make your life better. It is offered to the simple that they may gain knowledge; to the young that they may find direction; to the learned that they might peer behind the words and attain wisdom. It is presented in riddles both simple and profound, wise words that hide deeper meanings. Skeptics deny God, and the ignorant refuse the discipline of wisdom, but you need not be among them!

Harry Herrmann will be teaching a 33-week course on the book of Proverbs beginning at 11am on Sunday, April 11. “The Rest of Us” Sunday school class will be participating, but they invite anyone else who is interested to join them. The class was developed by Hallerin Hilton Hill and adapted for Sunday school use by Harry.
